December 2013....a Recap

So...honestly December was a bit of a blur this year. I mean it always seems to go by fast but being 9 months pregnant on top of the crazy holiday schedules made it go by even faster. I was nervous that the little guy would come early so I really tried to get a lot of things done early. Plus, I wanted to be able to do some fun stuff too in December which just added to the craziness. Overall, though, I think it was a pretty fun month. Since I am a little behind on the blogging front (it's been a busy couple of months and I'm updating about December in February!) I thought a quick overall December recap was needed!

A little pre-December fun. Mason and Max dressed up for Thanksgiving. They got these awesome outfits a few years ago but really had fun playing in them this year!

Max had a Mom's day with doughnuts at school. It was a lot of fun getting to spend one-on-one time with him and see him interact with his class. Of course we both loved eating doughnuts together! It was great to get to see him perform with kids from his MOPS group. Last year we missed the kids performing because Mason and Max had their tonsils removed. He is such a silly guy! I enjoyed seeing him perform and he actually knew the songs :) I always wonder if he is ever really retaining anything since any time you ask him what happened at MOPS today he says "nothing". Have a feeling he is going to be hard to get information from in his school years.

Mason also had a day where parent's could come and visit with their kiddos at school. We made a gingerbread house together. He loves school so much and it was exciting to see where he spends his days now. It has been a little sad that he is at school most of the time and not with us during the weekdays. But, I could really see how much he enjoys going to school and learning. Safe to say I made it home with the gingerbread house in one piece :)

It's been a pretty cold winter to say the least. I saw recently our area set a new record in snow fall amounts, breaking a records set about 30 years ago. Plus, we've had sub-zero temperatures to go along with all the snow. So...we've had a lot of indoor play time and a lot of time for dress-up! The note is something Mason made to put in our Operation Christmas Child boxes. It's his first note with his own handwriting and he was able to spell most of the words on his own.

Mason started basketball this year with Basketball and Beyond at our neighbor's church. He was a little shy in the beginning but really made improvements with each practice and game. Max loved to go to the games since he made a new friend that also like to play superheroes and Matthew liked going just to be able to run around for an hour!

Mason, Max and I headed down to the local children's museum along with our friend's Harper and Hadley for a Polar Express day. The boys love to go to the museum on any given day so it was fun to do something special there. We made homemade hot chocolate mix, learned about train signals, had a snack and met Santa. Note, Mason did not want to wear his pajamas there. He said he didn't like to wear pajamas in public. When did he get so old?!?!

Our Mops group took a tour of a local shop that makes homemade marshmallows. We got to try different flavors and take a tour of the kitchen to learn how they were made. Needless to say I think they were a big hit!

Did I mention snow!!

A few December happenings

I think this is one of my favorite group of pictures. Just a collage of a few things that went on over the month. Building legos, being silly, picnic dinner, trying on Grandpa's glasses and just plain being silly. The middle is the boys watching a movie together. Matthew looks so grown up and just wants to hang with the big boys. LOVE these guys!!
