Memorial Weekend Memories

On such a great weekend that celebrates those who do/have done so much for so many, we made a few new memories of our own.  Often we go to my grandparents' cabin for a weekend of camping out, fishing and smores (yum!).  But, as the weather has been a little on the rainy side this year :) the cabin was flooded and is now in need of some small repairs.  Oh, who are we kidding, major re-construction!  So, even though we were not at the cabin, I think we had a pretty fun weekend!

First we headed down to Southern Indiana for my cousin's graduation party (congrats, Zack!).  My grandparent's live next to a railroad track so the boys thought they were staying at the coolest place ever. We had to stop whatever we were doing once we heard the train whistles.  I'm sure we stopped and watched at least 10 or 15 while we were there for a whole 24 hours!

This was the usual spot for the boys when a train was coming through!

If you know my dad, you know you can often find him late a night searching around for his before bedtime snack. It is often, ice cream! Mason loved this idea and I just loved these pics of the two sharing a late night tradition!

On Sunday the boys were outside playing with their fishing poles and Brad asked them if they wanted to go fishing for real some time.  Well, wouldn't you know, we woke up Monday morning and Mason was ready to go fishing.  The kid doesn't forget a thing!  So, we packed up, bought some worms and headed to the watering hole!  It was a lot of fun and all my boys (old and young) really enjoyed the time fishing.  We even got Max to be able to reel in by himself.  I think they're hooked (ha, ha)!  And yes, we did catch a fish!

Here are some of my favorite moments of the trip.

The Perfect Getaway Close to Home!

This week we got together with the Moore side of our family for a little vacation without all the long traveling. We headed down to Brown County and stayed in a family cabin at the Abe Martin Lodge. Let me tell you if you haven't been down there before it is GREAT!  Tons of trails and the cabin was pretty amazing too.  Not to mention what the boys thought was the best part, a totally fun indoor water park.  We all had a good time, even after crazy weather! On Monday a few storms rolled through and wouldn't you know, yep, it took out all the power.  So, although we had a cabin with a small kitchen and air conditioning that storm took out our luxury camping! Even without power, we ended up having a great time. Here are a few pics to prove it!

The view from the back balcony of the cabin. Love this cousin picture!

One of the boys favorite part of the trip, the water park!

One day we took a trip to Columbus to visit the new Commons area for kids. All the boys love it.
Trying to get them all to smile and look at the camera at the same time is almost impossible!

Finally, we capped the trip off with dinner at McDonald's. Since we had no power it seemed like a logical place to eat especially once the kids found out there was a train that ran on a track above the sitting area. At first we had Max sitting with the grown-ups, I was trying to keep all his food from ending up on the floor. But, he was not a happy camper. We suddenly realized that all he wanted was to sit with the big boys. I had to get this picture once we got him situated as one of the big kids. He is such a ham!

Thanks again Grandma, Aunt Steph, Uncle Keith, Brandon and Tyler. We all had a GREAT time!

I'm Finally.....Smart!

Ok, I know no one thought I could really get any smarter!  But, this week my wonderful husband surprised me with the best gift. A smart phone!  So, I have retired by "dumb" phone and can now take part in the revolution of a high tech phone.  Really though, I don't know who is more excited, me or Brad. Let me just tell you he has been playing Angry Birds on the phone every night this week! I think he might be addicted to the game portion of the phone!  So, I look forward to texting, talking, emailing all of you through my phone!  Finally!
(photo for proof!)

I also wanted to add these really cute photos of the boys.  I couldn't believe they sat together so long without nagging at each other!

2011 Air Show

This past saturday we went to the Indianapolis Air Show.  Thank goodness we went on Saturday it was the best day of the weekend!  Brad has been taking flying lessons for the past few months and recently we purchased an airplane (Brad was a little more sure about this purchase than I was). Nonetheless, it has proven that it will be great family investment in the future.  So, we were able to fly to the air show, with the help of a few friends, this year instead of fight the traffic.  It was GREAT!  Mason loves to fly and this was the first time in an airplane for Max.  They both did great!  Thanks to the Lasers' for a wonderful day outside. Here are a few pics although you will notice none of them are with an airplane in the background (who took these anyway?).

Max enjoying the show!
My boys!

On a side note:  Had to add this picture in!  Hope this is not a look into his future driving habits!

Let's Give It A Try!

Hello all!  I have beeen thinking about getting back to blogging for a while.  Some of you might remember we started one right after Mason was born.  It was a great way to let people know what was happening with us and post pictures of the boys.  Well, Brad actually started that when we were in the hospital after Mason was born (thank you hubby!) but now it seems like he can't remember the title or the password. So, instead of trying to completely change the old blog I thought I would start a new one!  The turing point for me was when a friend of mine (thanks Traci!) mentioned that she had found a place that would print the blogs into a book.  That to me sound perfect for the boys since I am not the most crafty person and have not started any sort of scrapbook for them.  I was lucky to remember to write things down in their baby books! So here we go!  Please feel free to post any comments you might have and I hope you enjoy seeing our crazy life. Enjoy!
