A recap: December 2012

Yep, you read the title right. Still haven't blogged about the end of 2012. When I went to look at the blog the last update was October. WHAT?!?! Where did the time go. So much for keeping up with the information. But, yes. It's almost the end of January and I'm just getting around to posting about Christmas. For me, our December was HECTIC! Then after the holidays I guess I went into that post-holiday slump. I was exhausted and needed time to re-coop. So, here we are getting back into the swing of things. And, like most people, I set a list of new years resolutions which included better updating our family moments. It only took me a few weeks to get into actually putting those resolutions into action :) Nonetheless, here we go. A re-cap of the end of 2012. Where did the time go?

Christmas at the ZOO
Early in December we headed downtown Indy with friends for Christmas at the Zoo. I love it. They have wonderful lights and it's a great atmosphere to get into the holiday spirit. The boys always love seeing the animals and watching the dolphin show. We made a "quick" stop to see Santa while Matthew grabbed a bite to eat :)

Polar Express
Mason and Max LOVE this movie! It helps a little that they love trains too. This year we went to Connorsville to ride the Polar Express. The boys loved it. Matthew stayed home with Grandma so I'm sure he was not missing us at all, loving every minute of one-on-one Grandma attention. I think the trip went really well considering the next day both Max and Brad came down with a stomach flu! Yuck! It was so fun to see the aw in the boys eyes as we rode the train and waited to see Santa. I hope we can do this again next year.

Surgery
I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before how I dislike the structure of the human ear! Our poor boys have been plagued with ear infections their entire life. And, when I mean boys, I'm included Matthew in that mix. He's had 4 ear infections and he's only 6 months old!!  I see a familiar path in his future. Anyway, after much discussion with the ENT we decided to have Mason and Max undergo surgery to have their tonsils and adenoids removed AND to have tubes places again. Yuck! Yep, we had both boys have the surgery on the same day. Misery loves company they say. Plus, if the household was going to be down, why not all be down at the same time. It took them both about 2 weeks to get back to their full regular selves. As tough as those weeks were, they are SO much better now. It was a good thing we did the surgery and I'm hoping this will help them get through this winter and many more years without ear problems. We did get to capture a few moments of post-surgery bliss :)
Yep, mommy was tired too. Love the drool on my shoulder :)

Christmas!!!
The boys got to feeling better just in time for the Christmas traveling. For me, Christmas is getting more special every year just by seeing the excitement in the eyes of the boys. We are blessed to have so many people who love us and want us to spend time with them over the holiday season!
